PhumU2
The Pediculus humanus USDA strain was sequenced to 8.5x shotgun coverage and assembled by the J. Craig Venter Institute (JCVI). The assembly presented here (PhumU2, 2014) consists of 1,900 supercontigs totalling 110 Mb with a scaffold N50 of 497 kb.
Pediculus humanus is also unusual in that it possesses 18 mitochondrial minichromosomes (sequences FJ499473-FJ499490) as detaled in the publication "The single mitochondrial chromosome typical of animals has evolved into 18 minichromosomes in the human body louse, Pediculus humanus" by Shao et al, Genome Research, 2008.
